The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) Executive Committee (“EXCO”) met on Saturday 1 October 2022 in Algiers, Algeria and announced the re-opening of bids for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2025.
AFCON is the main international men’s association football competition in Africa which is sanctioned by the Confederation of African Football governing body, (CAF).
It was first held in 1957 and Since 1968, it has been held every two years, switching to odd-numbered years in 2013.
The next edition which is slated for 2025 is now opened up for grabs with no particular host nation in sight with CAF re-opening opportunities for interested African countries.
Before 2025, Ivory Coast will host the next year’s edition, 2023 beginning from January with 24 teams set to go head to head for the highly coveted trophy.
