Burundi’s Falonne Nahimana has hailed Super Falcons domination of the Women Afcon tournament in recent years ahead of a vital clash today.
Both sides need a win to secure qualification for the knockout stages, though the Swallows know their task will not be an easy one against a country that has absolutely dominated this competition.
Super Falcons picked up thier first win of the WAFCON 2022 tournament in a deserved victory against Botswana, to shrug off defeats against South Africa and put themselves back in contention for a tenth record Afcon trophy.
They will play Burundi today who are both in Group C as they aim qualify out of the group stage alongside South Africa who has booked thier place in the round of 16.
Nahimana who plays for Huddersfield TAFC in UK said ahead of the showpiece, “We are going to play against a very experienced team at WAFCON. We want to correct our past mistakes made in the previous two games we have played so far and we hope to do well.”
“This is a lifetime opportunity to play in a major competition. I am very grateful to the Federation for giving me the opportunity to play for the Burundian team and this match is my dream match.”
“Playing against a great team like Nigeria is a great opportunity. For us, as players, we have to go and fight as a team and do it with respect for our country.”
Both team will face off tonight tonight at Rabat’s Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex, as they look to qualify for the quarter finals in style.
