A major stakeholder in the sports academy industry in Nigeria, Buruj Sports Academy CEO, Salaudeen Waheed has lauded the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare over the recent success on the National Sports industry policy drafts which was released to the public in a digital presentation earlier this week as it signals a new dawn for the Nigerian sports entrusted to a man who knows the nitty-gritty of Sports.
“It is a great move by the amiable Minister for rebranding sports as this goes a long way to attract and give assurance to prospective investors stating clearly the assurance of an existing effective sports industry.” He posited.
“We stakeholders will have the confidence and assurance of our exploration. The Teeming Youths are the Power that will boost the sporting sector, a vast approach from our under 17 youth who are leading in the world cup,” he further said.
“I would like to urge our Hon Minister to Simplify Mode of taxation, stating benefits and importance of Compliance with Tax Law in the Policy in other to avoid double taxation and also encourage other Sports administrators and League Club owners to emulate the Pay Your Tax Syndrome as done by Buruj Sports Academy who has kept a cordial record of consistency in filing returns with both the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) and Lagos State Internal Revenue Services (LIRS),” Salaudeen proposed.
He also congratulated members of the steering committee of the Sports Industry Working Group (SIWG), the policy validation committee and the National sports industry policy drafting committee the relevant MDAs, and Ministries for their commitment in bringing the draft Sports industry policy into reality.
The Draft National Sports Industry Policy was presented yesterday 28th July 2020 to Sunday Dare, Minister for Youth and Sports Development, setting the stage for a new dawn in Sports Development and Sports for Development.
For final approval, the policy needs to be reviewed by the General Public and adopted by the National Council of Sports.
