As the management of Buruj Sports Academy are set to package a new team for their next foreign trip, the arrival of utility left-foot bomber Fatai Aliu Owolabi has swelled the number of promising youngsters they are banking on to dazzle football scouts and fans alike.
The Ibadan, Oyo State-born player was discovered and being discovered by a football enthusiast and administrator, Alhaji Mayor, who has vowed to help the young boy who can play as a defensive midfielder and defender to attain any height he desires in the beautiful game of football.
Since he joined the camp of the team that recently returned from the United Kingdom where they featured in this year’s edition of the English Super Cup in Manchester and Welsh Super Cup in Cardiff, the management and technical department have been monitoring the extremely talented kids star with a view to finding the most suitable position for him in the new team.
The CEO of the academy Salaudeen Waheed, while speaking on the potential of the player he said will go places in a not too distant future enthused:
“We are happy to have Fatai Owolabi in our camp. He had been playing street football all his life but was discovered by Alhaji Mayor, a popular football administrator and former staff of NEPA. He was also a former Vice Chairman of Lagos FA. He is the one who has vowed to support him and sponsor him to our next trip coming up later this month. ”
“On our part, we are monitoring his progress and it is heartwarming having a player with such enormous talents- an utility player in our rank. There is no doubt he is a good footballer whether as a midfielder or a defender. It is our duty to polish his raw edges and find the most suitable place for him in the squad.”
“Our next trip this month and next month will be pack-full of young and exciting talent. We want to help young players to realise their dreams in the game and hopefully, many players like him will come on board.”
