The Chief Executive Office of Buruj Football Academy and Buruj Football Club, Waheed Salaudeen have asked the youth to embrace dialogue and shun protest as they demand for better governance.
He told our reporter on Monday for the youth to shun the planned 15 days #EndGovernance due to begin on Thursday August 1, 2024 saying it might be hijacked and turned violent, rather the youth should engage the government in dialogue to see how their grievances can be addressed.
” I won’t support anything cause that can lead social disorder or lead to destruction of properties of loss of lives. The planned protest has no identifiable leadership or leaders , it makes it a dangerous venture. We are seeing counter protests already and this is a recipe for disaster already,” explained Waheed.
” Instead of heating up the polity by filling the streets, it’s better for the youth to embrace dialogue between them and the Government this is a better way of registering their grievances, as similar protests have led to civil unrest in the past which achieved nothing but left us with a worsened situation, the records are there ” the soft spoken football administrator admonished.
This adds to the growing voices against the planned protest scheduled to begin on Thursday across the country.
Many notable Nigerians have expressed their reservations, that the protest could turn violent like the EndSars protests which led to wanton destruction of properties and loss of lives.
