Smarting from their recent return from the United Kingdom where they participated in the English and Welsh Super Cup, players of Buruj Sports Academy exhibited their enhanced potentials as they beat Eko Future Stars 2-1 in the skills test game played inside Agege Mini-stadium on Sunday morning.
Captain of the side Noah Salaudeen rose to the challenge with some dazzling display to earn himself some applause from technical experts and spectators as he inspired his side to a fine win over an equally talented team in Future Stars.
It was the Buruj Boys who drew the first blood after the impressive Noah was hacked down in the opponent box as he dusted himself to convert the penalty duly awarded his side in the 33rd minute.
The Eko Future Stars boys responded after some brilliant attacking display to restore parity in the 60th minute before Acha James seized an exquisite pass from Ridwan Akinrinoye to score what proved to be the winning goal in the 75th minute.
In all, it was a game that exposed the strength and weakness of all the players on parade and the expert watching from the sidelines and the technical crew of both teams were on hand to offer their remarks.
“It was a good exercise for our boys who showed that they are learning fast and ready for big things. There is no better way to test them and know what they can do than what we did with them against Eko Future Stars. Hopefully, many of such exercise will come and I congratulate those of them who do themselves and the academy proud. Maybe the rest players will be inspired to do better next time,” the CEO Salaudeen Waheed posited.
Apart from Noah Salaudeen (Attacking Midfielder), other players who distinguished themselves include Ignatius Akuba (Left Back) and James Acha (Defensive Midfielder).
Also earning high ratings are Aliu Fatai (Central Defender with the good left foot), Fawaz Tijani (Central Defender) and Goal Keeper Edet Inyang who made some superlative saves.
