Buruj Football Club of Ikorodu this afternoon and other teams have crashed out in the third round of WGB Lagos State Challenge Cup.
Buruj who were unlucky this afternoon lost 1-4 on penalty shoot out to Spartan Football Club of Agege after a barren draw at the regulation time in the third round match watched by mammoth crowd at the rehabilitation center, Isheri, Ojodu Berger, Lagos.
Both teams did excellently well in their performance but poor finishing denied them from scoring.
Spartan controlled the game in the first half but failed to convert their chances.
Buruj were better in the second half as they curtailed the onslaught of Spartan boys who were dangerous in the midfield.Some scoring chances Buruj created could not be converted as the game ended in the penalties.
Buruj Coach,Ishola Shuiab commended his players for their doggedness and fighting spirit exhibited throughout the encounter.
“I am not disappointed with the defeat because my boys gave their best.Of course we lost through penalties but I am happy that we were not disgraced.We would go back home and make corrections before our NLO match,”he said.
Spartan coach,Musa Abubakar admitted that their opponents gave them a good fight noted that he would work on his team’s weaknesses before their next match.
In other results,Dannaz beat Be Platinum 1-0, Smart City Feeders walkovered First Bank.May FC thrashed Glory Boys 2-0,while Yobo humbled Vinning United 3-0 as ODIC shocked Leon 3-1.
