Promising winger Joel Ideho, who recently received an invitation to join the Nigerian U20 national team, has caught the attention of Burnley as the summer transfer window approaches.
The talented player has just a few days left on his contract with Arsenal and is expected to explore new opportunities after not being offered a renewal by the North London club.
Reports suggest that Burnley is keen on integrating Ideho into their U21 squad, aiming to secure his services in time for the upcoming pre-season training.
However, it is now understood that the Dutch-born Nigerian youngster is carefully considering Burnley’s proposal, indicating that his immediate move to the English Premier League newcomers is uncertain.
Unfortunately, Ideho’s recent ankle injury, sustained during training after a London derby against Crystal Palace’s development squad in March, sidelined him for the latter part of the 2022-2023 Premier League 2 season. Although he attended Nigeria’s training camp in Abuja, the setback prevented him from being included in the final squad for the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup.
Moreover, Nigeria U20 manager Ladan Bosso had considered including Ideho in the roster for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. However, plans were abandoned upon discovering that the winger’s Nigerian passport had expired back in 2018, rendering him ineligible for the tournament.
Having trained with Arsenal’s first team on multiple occasions, Ideho departs the club without having made his professional debut. His departure marks the end of his time with the Gunners, as he seeks fresh opportunities to kick-start his career elsewhere.
As the summer transfer window unfolds, all eyes are on Joel Ideho, with Burnley’s interest piqued by the young winger’s potential. The footballing world eagerly awaits his decision, as he contemplates the next step in his footballing journey and aims to make a lasting impact in the beautiful game.
