The Nigerian forward, Taiwo Awoniyi was the difference-maker for his side as his two-goal involvement handed them a 2-0 away win over Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Taiwo Awoniyi scored one and assist the other as Union Berlin moves temporarily 4th on the Bundesliga table.
The Liverpool loanee set up strike partner Sheraldo Becker for the opener just 12 minutes into the game.
Awoniyi proceeded to double Berlin’s lead in the 28th, poking the ball past the Bremen goalkeeper with an assist from Robert Andrich.
He was substituted late in the game for full-back Julian Ryerson.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form of late, scoring 5 goals and providing another 2 in his last seven Bundesliga appearances.
The win takes Union Berlin to 24 points after 14 games and they host Wolfsburg in their next game on January 9.
