Hon. Olopade praised Eng. Musa Kida as one of Nigeria’s most efficient and productive sports administrators, who has sacrificed immensely for the growth of Nigerian basketball.

He emphasized that this latest appointment is a testament to Kida’s years of passion, hard work, and dedication, as well as his highly successful track record in the oil sector for more than two decades.

“Eng. Musa Kida is an accomplished administrator whose achievements span both the oil sector and Nigerian basketball. I have no doubt that NNPC Limited will attain better efficiency and attract more investment under his watch.”

Hon. Olopade further acknowledged Kida’s remarkable leadership as the President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, citing the steady growth of the sport in the country and the impressive performances of the national teams.

“Under his leadership, we have witnessed the continuous rise of Nigerian basketball, with our national teams achieving new heights. At the last Olympic Games in France, the Nigeria Women’s Basketball team, D’Tigress, made history by advancing to the knockout phase before bowing out to the United States.”

“I personally know the efforts Eng. Kida put in behind the scenes to ensure that Nigeria achieved that feat in France. The Nigerian women’s team has been unrivaled on the African continent for some time now.”

The DG expressed confidence that Kida would leverage his new position to further support the development of Nigerian sports, particularly basketball, especially as the country focuses on building a sustainable sports economy.

“While the oil sector will greatly benefit from Eng. Musa Kida’s expertise as the new Board Chairman of NNPC Limited, Mr. President has also strategically positioned Nigerian sports for growth by appointing one of us to such a crucial role within the NNPC.”

Hon. Olopade concluded by expressing optimism that Kida’s appointment would mark a new era of transformation and advancement, both in the oil sector and in Nigerian sports.
