Taekwando coach, Paul Bright Kolade has revealed his optimism over Taekwando and he’s confident that the sport will continue to experience an upward trajectory in Nigeria as many youths are now coming into the sport.
Coach Paul Bright Kolade also known as PBK nation stated this in an exclusive interview with Sports247 earlier today at the Legacy Stadium.
“Taekwando in Nigeria is really trying, we are coming up. 2008, we had bronze medal, 2021 Tokyo Olympics qualification with female athletes. So, it’s great.”
“Currently, the new president is giving his best, we just came back from Rwanda, 6/7 athletes represented Nigeria at the just concluded African Championship, we had one silver, two bronze medals.”
“We are preparing for the Taekwondo Commonwealth competition, that’s the hope the president gave us, no date given yet but we are preparing.”
On what the current board is doing to the growth of the sport, “the taekwondo board members are still cooking, we are yet to see what they are cooking,” he smilingly remarked.
Right now, Paul is still the lightweight champion representing Nigeria both on the national and international level with a World Level one coaching Certificate.
