Brigadier General Abdulraheem Bello Hails CDS For Upgrading Abuja Stadium Facilities

The Chairman of the Technical Sub-Committee for the ongoing African Military Games 2024, Brigadier General Abdulraheem Bello, has praised the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, for his exceptional leadership in upgrading the facilities at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Brigadier General Bello highlighted that the stadium, which had been in disrepair for years, has undergone a remarkable transformation under the CDS’s direction.

Speaking to journalists, Bello expressed his gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff for the facelift given to the once dilapidated facilities, noting that the upgrades have provided a much-needed boost to the training and preparation of military athletes.

He emphasized that the modernized stadium now boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure, ensuring that athletes from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, and Nigerian Navy have access to world-class training conditions as they compete in the ongoing African Military Games.

Brigadier General Bello, who has been overseeing the technical aspects of the games, expressed confidence that the improvements would lead to strong performances from Nigeria’s military teams, further reinforcing the country’s position in military sports.

“The facilities at Moshood Abiola Stadium were in poor condition, but under the leadership of General Christopher Musa, they have been completely transformed.

“This upgrade is a game changer for the athletes. It has created a conducive environment for rigorous training, which is vital for their preparation ahead of the African Military Games,” said Bello.

The Acting Director of Physical Training for the Nigerian Army also praised General Musa’s efforts to ensure that the armed forces’ athletes received adequate preparation in the lead-up to the games.

He revealed that the CDS’s focus on improving military sports infrastructure has been key to enhancing the performance and morale of the athletes.

“The African Military Games are a significant event for the Nigerian Armed Forces, and thanks to the upgraded facilities, our athletes are better equipped and motivated to compete at the highest level.

“The Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, and Nigerian Navy athletes are now training in a world-class environment, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on their performance,” Bello added.

“The feedback from the participating teams has been overwhelmingly positive. Athletes from across Africa have expressed their appreciation for the upgraded facilities, and they are eager to compete in such a professional environment,” Bello added.
