Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed why Wilfred Ndidi was not considered for their Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Monday, Sports247 reports.
Ndidi made the squad but was surprisingly left on the bench for the duration of the game that ended 1-1 at Selhurst Park.
Rodgers has explained his decision to keep the Nigerian out, stating that it has more to do with precaution than anything else, with the midfielder only returning from a long injury earlier this month.
“Wilf, you see how important he is for us, and he’s starting to get game-time, but again, we don’t want to risk him,” Rodgers told Leicester Mercury.
“We’ve got all the measurement of where he’s at and what zones he’s in, so we have to be careful with him,” he added.
The 24-year-old recently returned from a groin injury suffered in September which kept him out for two months.
He has appeared seven times since his return to action.
