Breaking News: NSC Chairman Rallies Football Supporters Clubs For United Front In Super Eagles’ World Cup Quest

The National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, has called for unity among Nigeria’s football supporters clubs, emphasizing that a collective front is crucial for the success of the national team, particularly in securing a World Cup ticket.

Speaking at his office while welcoming an amalgamation of the country’s leading football supporters clubs, Dikko used a powerful analogy to stress the importance of togetherness.

“If you single out broomsticks, you could so easily break them one after the other. But when you put them together as a bunch, you cannot break the broom,” he stated.

The delegation, led by Mr. Vincent Okumagba, briefed the Chairman on their decision to harmonize the various supporters clubs following a meeting convened by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

They expressed their commitment to setting aside differences and working together for the greater good of Nigerian football.

Dikko urged the groups to intensify their efforts to form a single, united body, noting that their collective support was essential for the success of the national teams.

“You must come together and work as a group so that we can achieve the desired goal. When we are all working towards the same goal, success is guaranteed,” he said.

With the Super Eagles’ World Cup qualification on the line, the NSC Chairman reminded the delegation of the urgent task ahead.

“Our task now is to make sure that we get that World Cup ticket. What is home advantage when the supporters are not behind you as one group? We need to come together and sing in one voice to give our players the home advantage they need.”

Dikko reassured the supporters clubs of the Commission’s full backing in their quest to rally behind the national team.

“We in the Commission—myself, my DG, and the staff—are fully supporting and enforcing this move to have a unified group. We are here to render any support you need from us,” he concluded.

In attendance were key representatives from various supporters groups, including:

Vincent Okumagba (President, Super Eagles Supporters Club)

Hon. Sunday Gulong (President, Nigeria Eagles Supporters Club)

Amb. Abimbola Ariyo (National Secretary, Nigeria Eagles Supporters Club)

Amb. Kemi Ogunfuwa (President, Football Fans Club of Nigeria)
