Sunday, October 6, 2024, Coach Bright Ozebagbe resigned from his role at Ikorodu City FC, citing irreconcilable differences with the club’s management and a growing sense of unappreciation, Sports247 reports.

Ozebagbe felt the environment was no longer conducive to his well-being. “I don’t feel happy doing my job, not being appreciated, and I just want to get my mental state away from the club and explore other possibilities,” he explained.
The resignation comes at a turbulent time for Ikorodu City, who are struggling in their NPFL debut.
The team currently has only one point from five games, having endured a tough start to the season. In their first NPFL match, Ikorodu suffered a 3-0 defeat to Kano Pillars.
They then managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Kwara United in Ilorin, showing some promise. However, their home form has been a major concern. In Week 3, they lost 0-1 to Enugu Rangers in Lagos, followed by another home defeat in Week 4, when Nasarawa United clinched a 2-1 victory.
The team’s latest match, just yesterday, saw them travel to Jos, where Plateau United added to Ikorodu’s woes by claiming victory courtesy of a late goal.
This string of disappointing results has left the team in a precarious position, amplifying the pressure on both the players and the now-departed coach.
With Ozebagbe’s departure, the management will need to act swiftly to stabilize the squad and avoid further decline, as the excitement of their promotion begins to fade into a battle for survival in the NPFL.
