Former Super Eagles captain and Chelsea of England defensive midfielder, John Obi Mikel is reportedly in talks with Brazilian topflight side Botafogo over a possible move to join them in the coming weeks.
The champions league winner walked out of his contract with Turkish side Trabzonspor last month following the authority’s refusal to suspend the league in the middle of coronavirus pandemic.
He has since then reunited with his family while hoping to secure a new deal at another club since the Nigerian star is far from retiring anytime soon. Barely one month after quitting his last club, the 32-year-old is now reported to be on the verge of joining the Brazilian side according to Yahoo Sports.
It was gathered by Sports247 that Botafogo were considering landing Ivorian legend, Yaya Toure, but since the deal fell through, they decided to contact Mikel.
Botafogo have offered John Obi Mikel a higher value than what he received at his last club, the figures proposed is around $2m dollars per 18 month contract. The Nigerian however has asked for a little more.
