The head coach of Team Nigeria’s boxing team to the ongoing Youths Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Daniel Adekunle is talking boldly about his squad’s chances of picking hordes of medals.
Adekunle stated in a chat with sports247.ng that the Nigerian boxing contingent is loaded with talented youths, and singled out one of the females, Adijat Gbadamosi as a star in the making.
Adekunle said ahead of Gbadamosi’s final against La Piana Martina of Italy that his ward will go beyond the present into the future for glory to the nation.
“All my boxers have natural talent,” Adekunle boated, “I only just need to chip in some professional advice as their coach.
“That’s why I advised Adijat Gbadamosi to go all out attack against her opponent and I believe she will win many gold medals for Nigeria.”
Civil Defence Retain Korea Ambassador Cup Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have again emerged winners of the annual Korea Ambassador’s Cup in Abuja, sports247.ng can report.
En route to winning the title for the sixth consecutive time, NSCDC won three gold, one silver and three bronze medals, while Oyo won three gold and one silver to place second.
Q-Madi of Lagos placed third with two gold, one silver and one bronze, while Lagos State finished fourth with one gold and two silver, as Model Maitama of Abuja were fifth with one gold, one silver and one bronze.
Abia State, Classic Taekwondo, Nasarawa State and Nigeria Army all had one gold and one bronze each; while Benue State University, Taraba State gained one gold each.
FCT garnered two silver and three bronze medals; University of Abuja two silver medals, and Kebbi State pooled one silver and nine bronze.
Q-Madi’s Ifeoluwa Ajayi was voted as the most valuable athlete, while Olayinka Olawumi from Oyo State was declared best female athlete.
Shamsudeen Useni of Ogun State emerged best coach, and Winifred Eleri was adjudged the best referee, while Model School Maitama, Q-Madi and Nasarawa were first, second and third in the junior category.
