Nigeria Football Federation executive committee member Alhaji Babagana Kalli has reminded participants at a one-day sensitization workshop held at the Football Association secretariat in Maiduguri, they must play by the rules governing the administration of football in Nigeria.
He said misconduct of spectators will not be condoned as such act will be appropriately prosecuted.
The Chairman, NFF Match Commissioners Appointment committee who doubles as CAF/FIFA Match Commissioner, dropped the hint at the one-day sensitization workshop held at the Conference Hall of the Borno Football Association, Maiduguri.
He reminded the participants that in football one must be ready to accept either a win, a loss or a draw in good faith.
He called on the participants to eschew violence as the football field is no place for violence.
Alhaji Babagana Kalli reminded the gathering that the new NFF reforms in running of football are in place to develop the game to greater heights.
Speaking on behalf of the State Youth, Sports and Poverty Alleviation Commissioner, Hon Sainna Buba, the FA boss lamented the ignorance of some spectators which can be counterproductive to the progress of the much loved football team in Borno. “The essence of the workshop is to rub minds on how best to conduct our matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NNL and other competitions.”
Speaking on refereeing, Laws of the Game, Borno State only FIFA badged referee Grema Mohammed Mustapha dwelled on vital areas in soccer matches citing Elkanemi Warriors’ last match, against Nasarawa United. He sounded warnings on crowd misconduct and ignorance of football laws which are changing annually.
Other notable personalities that spoke at the workshop included Danjuma Usman who touched on crowd behaviour; Director of Sports, Ministry of Sports and Secretary Elkanemi Warriors, Alhaji Bura Mustapha who hinged on the need to support Elkanemi Warriors in a lawful manner. ASP Umar on his part touched on matters bordering on security.
Participants were also given chances to say their minds.
Present at the occasion were Vice Chairman of Elkanemi Warriors, Waziiri Isa; Team Manager of Elkanemi Warriors, Ibrahim Zanna; Elder Abdumaliq Mohammed among others.
