Club Brugge of Belgium attacker, Dennis Bonaventure has received an opportunity for fresh continental club action in Europe, as his team are among clubs who picked slots for the Europa League from third spot in their UEFA Champions League groups, sports247.ng reports.
Bonaventure, who has been out injured since last month, will now play in the second-tier European clubs competition next year, after his team finished third in their Champions League group.
Bonaventure and the Belgian champions garnered six points in total, as a goalless draw at home with Atletico Madrid of Spain helped them scale ahead of AS Monaco of France to hook the group’s Europa League spot.
Bonaventure will hope to be fit like a fiddle for Brugge’s first match in the Europa League next year, as he missed their last UCL tie against Monaco, as he has yet to recover from a hamstring injury.
It is a recurrent fitness issue for him, as the young attacker earlier missed the start of the campaign, after he copped an ankle injury in pre-season.
The 20-year-old, has scored twice in eight league appearances for the Belgian champions this term, was missing alongside Nigerian-born winger, Arnaut Danjuma.
The Holland international, who opted to play for the Dutch at senior level, instead of Nigeria, is also still nursing an ankle injury he copped in a 1-1 draw with Belgium during a friendly last month.
