Bodybuilding fans in and outside Nigeria will have the pleasure of seeing the best of the sport in April, as the body in charge of the sector has rolled out details of its 2019 programme of activities.
Sports247.ng learnt that the event in April is the brainchild of Amateur Body Building & Fitness Federation of Nigeria (ABBFN), which threw light on two major packages it has in store for the year and beyond.
ABBFN president, Soye Elekima said the first programme is tagged Ultimate Night of Champions and the other is IFBB Classics Africa, the first of which is billed to take place between April 5 and 6 at Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
He said both events are planned to project bodybuilding in Nigeria and expose the country’s competitors to a bigger stage where they could attract global attention.
Elekima added that the twin events will also project the country to the outside world as some of the expected guests from the international bodybuilding fraternity were of international clout.
The ABBFN boss stated: “Nigeria will be hosting the two-time Governor of the State of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the IFBB President Raphael Santonja and his African counterpart, Dr. Eng. Adel Fahim El Sayed, among others.
“The Ultimate Night of Champions will be a national competition which will feature the best of Nigerian body building and fitness practitioners which comes up.
“It will feature both home-based and foreign-based athletes because it is going to be used as trials for the African championship – IFBB Classics Africa.
“We are offering the opportunity for the best to feature so that only the best can represent us at the African Classics which comes up August 28 to September 1 at Eko Hotel in Lagos.”
