Chairman of Likeminds Football Club and board member of the FCT Football Association, Barr. Babatunde Akintade Bocknor, has lauded the Chairman of the FCT Football Association, Adam Mohammed Mouktar, for his maturity and commitment to preserving peace within the association amidst a recent crisis.
Speaking to journalists after a reconciliation meeting convened by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which was attended by the NFF Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi; FCT FA Chairman, Adam Mohammed Mouktar; and Barr. Babatunde Bocknor, the Likeminds FC Chairman expressed appreciation for the resolution process.
“Adam Mouktar demonstrated remarkable humanity and magnanimity in handling the situation,” Bocknor stated. “He placed the interest of the FCT FA above personal considerations, which is commendable. His decision to honor the NFF’s invitation despite the challenges shows his vision and passion for the growth of football.”
Bocknor further emphasized his renewed commitment to football development in the FCT, congratulating Alhaji Salihu Kolo on his emergence as the first vice chairman. “My intention in running for the vice chairman position was solely to contribute to the progress of football, not to challenge the incumbent. I remain dedicated to the association’s growth,” he affirmed.
He also expressed gratitude to notable stakeholders for their contributions to restoring peace, including Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi for his fatherly role, former FCT FA Chairman Emmanuel Attah, Kwara State FA Chairman Alhaji Idris Abdullahi Musa (fondly called Thuraya), Ali Abubakar (Head of Members Association, NFF), and Coach Patrick Bassey for their support and timely advice. He also acknowledged the former FCT Coaches Association Chairman, Godwin Bamgboye, for his behind-the-scenes efforts in unifying the association.
Additionally, Bocknor revealed that the petition submitted to the NFF has been withdrawn and offered apologies to all stakeholders including the FCT FA Chairman for any inconveniences it may have caused during the process while calling on the Chairman of the FCT Ethics Committee, Adamu Hasshim, to overlook grievances arising from statements attributed to one of the coaches. “To err is human, and to forgive is divine,” he remarked.
Barr. Bocknor concluded by expressing optimism that the resolution efforts will set a strong foundation for the continuous growth and unity of football in the FCT
