Bobby Clement, Uchebo Ready For Confederations Cup

Rangers International of Enugu are set to unleash two former foreign-based stars, Bobby Clement and Michael Ochebo on Salitas of Burkina Faso in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Sports247.ng gathered that Clement and Uchebo, who joined The Flying Antelopes last year, after stints in Spain and Kuwait as well as Holland and Portugal respectively have been cleared by the continental body.

Both players were not part of the Coal City side’s campaign int he early stages and [play-off phase of the second-tier continental competition, but Rangers have now gained the nod from Confederation of African Football (CAF) to register the duo for the group stage.

That will commence on Sunday at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, ahead of which Rangers coach, Gbenga Ogunbote is already talking tough, as he makes plans to start with victory at home.

Ogunbote, whose side have won five and drawn one of six games so far, will again rely on in-form attacker, Godwin Aguda, who is currently the competition’s joint top scorer with five goals.

The game will be the first group outing for both teams in Group B of this year’s competition, with kick-off fixed for at 2pm, while the other game is a Tunisian derby between Etoile du Sahel and CS Sfaxien, starting 5pm at Olympic Stadium, Sousse in Tunisia.

Gambian referee, Papa Bakary Gassama has been appointed by CAF to officiate Sunday’s game between Rangers and Salitas FC in Enugu.

The 39-year-old Gassama is one of Africa’s best arbiters and is expected to do a good job for the game between two West African sides at The Cathedral, for which he will be assisted by compatriot Abdul Aziz Bollel Jawo and Issa Yaya from Chad Republic.
