Blind Football Project Starts January 15 In Enugu

The screening project of Nigeria Para-Athletics Federation for visually challenged football talents is set to start January 15 in Enugu.

Sports247.ng learnt that the programme, which will be in conjunction with BINA Foundation, will come to a close on January 20 at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

The federation’s secretary-general, Patrick Abobi said the programme, which is for persons with visual inhibitions, is aimed at selecting players that will represent Nigeria at the African Blind Football Championship in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire later in the year.

Abobi added that the event is purely for visually impaired players, but is open to all within that category and appealed for eligible players to avail themselves of the opportunity.

Abobi further assured: “There is provision for free feeding, medicals and local transportation to ease movement of players within Enugu and its environs.

“Successful players will be invited to camp for adequate preparations for the continental championship.
“The African championship is very important, hence our collaboration with the BINA Foundation for Persons with Special Needs for an open and transparent trials.”
