Blessed Stars Football Academy defender Charles Aniefiok Etim has joined Nigeria National League side team FC One Rocket on ”free loan” for just one season according to his club.
Charles Etim had previously garnered national team experience from both U-17 and most recently U-20 after he played two games for Nigeria in the WAFU-B games in Côte d’Ivoire last December.
According to the Blessed Stars Football Academy Management, the player is said to be on loan for only ”one season or less” pending when the defense maestro is set to travel to secure his deal with an undisclosed European club.
During the U-17 FIFA world cup, it can be recalled that Charles Etim played almost all the matches if not for the yellow card he had received during one of the games.
Last season, reports made rounds that NPFL side Akwa United FC picked interest in the young talent but it didn’t turnout fruitful as Blessed Stars declined the offer stating that, “They only want to reap us off because they say we are “just an academy” and not in the right place to make demands”, said Blessed Stars Team manager Mr. Moses Ukpong.
While in an interview last December the club also disclosed that a club official from Liverpool had reached out to Blessed Stars agent Mr. Ojo Paul Omamomo to try and discuss transfer on how Charles can join the U-19 category of the premiership side.
Charles Etim is expected to make his debut in the NNL team upon commencement of the league this February.
