Beyond Limits Eye Another Upset, Face Ikorodu City as President Federation Cup Returns with Round of 16 Action

The 2024 President Federation Cup resumes this week with thrilling Round of 16 encounters scheduled across various venues nationwide.

One of the headline fixtures features Beyond Limits FA, the academy side that shocked Rivers United in the previous round, taking on Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) newcomers Ikorodu City FC.

The eagerly anticipated clash is set for Wednesday at 4:00 PM at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

Beyond Limits have turned heads with their giant-killing exploits, particularly after eliminating former NPFL champions Rivers United in the Round of 32.

However, they now face a stern challenge against Ikorodu City FC, this season’s breakout NPFL team, who continue to impress in their top-flight debut.

Meanwhile, an all-NPFL showdown between Bendel Insurance and Rangers International is scheduled for Wednesday at 4:00 PM at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

With both sides falling behind in the NPFL’s race for continental qualification, the Federation Cup now offers their most viable route to securing a spot on the continent, raising the stakes for this clash significantly.

Another all-NPFL encounter will see relegation-threatened Nasarawa United face Bayelsa United at 10:00 AM on Wednesday in Anyigba.

The Lafia-based team hopes a strong cup run can lift spirits and provide much-needed momentum in a league campaign that has seen them fight for survival all season.

All eyes will also be on Enyimba FC, who knocked out the defending champions in the previous round. The Aba giants are looking to continue their cup resurgence when they meet Abakaliki FC at 4:00 PM on Wednesday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

With an underwhelming NPFL season so far, the Cup remains Enyimba’s best chance of earning a continental ticket.
