Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Bitrus Bewerang has emphasized that the Super Eagles will use the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying ties against Libya to consolidate on Nigeria’s bid to qualify for the tournament.
The former Plateau United General Manager stressed that the players are more hungrier now than ever before to banish the embarrassment of failing to qualify for back to back AFCON.
“I belief that the Super Eagles will qualify for AFCON 2019. It’s very important that they get the job done and make things happen,” Bewarang in a chat with Sports247.ng.
“My confidence is hinged on the fact that the players are raring to go and have hunger in them after missing out in the last two editions of the competition.”
“Nigeria have rich pedigree in African football. Missing out in the Nations Cup isn’t the best for us. The boys are determined to right the wrongs of the past.”
“The games against Libya will be used for consolidation after the sweet victory against Seychelles.
Nigeria will host the first leg against Libya at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday 13th October with the return scheduled for the 18,000–capacity Stade Taïeb Mhiri in the city of Sfax, Tunisia on Tuesday 16th October.
