Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament: Edo First Lady Strides For More Milestones Nigeria Sports Development History

Edo First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, Tuesday continued in her strides for more milestones in the history of Nigeria Sports development as she Tuesday moved round tournament venues in the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament in Benin City to watch group games played.

This was the first in Nigeria for a serving First Lady of s state to aside from hosting a 12-club tournament, will move across match venues to watch games played. She earlier did it on Day One when she watched and kicked off the matches at the Uniben Sports Complex – Rivers Angels versus Fortress Ladies, and the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium – Edo Queens versus Naija Ratels of Abuja.

Tuesday afternoon, the energetic First Lady, was at the Western Boys High School, Ikpoba Hill, and Uniben Sports Complex, Ugbowo campus.

At the Western Boys High School, she watched FC Robo defeated Fortress Ladies of Benin 5-0 with all goals scored by Monday Gift. The highlight of her visit was the pep talk she gave to the two teams at halftime, one after the other.

From the Western Boys, she left for the Uniben, Ugbowo campus where she watched Edo Queens beat Rolly Angels 4-0 in a local derby.

Edo Queens with the victory top Group A with 6 points and + Goal Difference.

In another standing, FC Robo top Group B with 6 points and +10 Goals Difference ahead of Rivers Angels on same points but inferior 7 goals after they defeated Royal Queens 3-0 in Day Two. Bayelsa Queens top Group C with 4 points and 6 Goal Difference after Tuesday 6-0 victory against Kaduna Queens ahead of second-place Sunshine Queens on 3 points after beating Confluence Queens 1-0 on Day 2.

In other results, a much improved Heartland Queens of Owerri played a goalless draw against Naija Ratels of Abuja, to climb to second place in Group A behind leaders Edo Queens, thanks to their Day 1 victory against Rolly Angels.
The Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament continues tomorrow, Thursday with Day 3 matches as today is Rest Day.
