The Bet9ja Ogun State League started a few days ago and Remo Stars U-15 lost their first game 2-0. Remo Stars have their senior team in the Nigerian National League, the U19 youth team in The Nationwide League One and also TCC League, and now the U15 participating in the State League.
Coach of the side, Olowookere Olawale who has been with Remo Stars since 2017 before being appointed to head the U15 team explained that it was boys against men even as they lost their second game 6-2 to Marvelous FC.
“It was a very tough game as we played against bigger guys, boys against men although that should not be an excuse for us losing. It was a good performance for the boys, they gave their best, they fought well and I saw a lot of positives from their game. I spoke to them after the game explaining why I liked their performance and also the reason I need more from them,” Olawale said.
“The management of our club love winning, they don’t like excuses, you don’t give any excuse for losing and that’s the same thing we’re trying to teach the boys, no excuse for failure and you must put every effort to win and this shows in their game. They lost in scoreline but they won everybody’s heart with their performance, there were a lot of comments from people, the directors, and management as well as hey we’re pleased with the performance but want them to do more,” he added.
The coach explained that many of the boys have been with the team from the age of ten and have passed through the ranks and currently U15. According to him, the management wants to see them grow and become better, to maybe join the major team and play in the top-flight and also develop and explore their careers as it will be a joy for the management.
