KG Sports Managing Director Dr. Ken Gadaffi on Wednesday disbanded its Senior Team at the Bet9ja-DFA State League over failure to qualify for the Super 8 and said the academy will focus mainly on Football School going forward.
The move was swiftly made in the aftermath of the Academy failing to make the Super 8 after a scandalous 10-3 defeat to Ihuyase FC on the final match of the group Matches.
KG Sports Started the League by winning their first 2 matches and won the first Team of the week of the season, they were top of the table in the Agbor Center as at week 4 before the Organizers slammed an indefinite ban on Coach Lucky Lansana which saw the team capitulated from win 5 and have failed to win any match ever since with only 1 draw to the group leaders Young Shall Grow.
The Final Match against Ihuyase was a mere formality for the Pride of Agbor but Ihuyase Fc needed the win to have a chance to make it to the Super 8, The match which had been dubbed the battle of Agbor was supposed to be a local Derby between both sides given that they were neighbors, however with the Coach Michael Ekeh Tutored boys lacking motivation, they fell to the firepower of the Ihuyase boys and were battered 10-3.
Managing Director of the Academy, Dr Ken Gadaffi speaking from his base in Cambodia moments after the match, addressed the players through the WhatsApp group chat and said the action was taken since the season has come to an end for the Academy boys and haven failed to progress to the next round, the team remains disbanded and players are to proceed on a compulsory break till further notice.
“Following the End of the Bet9ja-League. The KG sports Bet-9ja Team is hereby disbanded. I want to thank all of you for your time and commitment to taking part in the league. The Academy will now proceed to a month’s Break.” he said through the Whatsapp Group.
“Players who took part in the league and are interested to continue with the KG Sports Academy will be reabsorbed after successful Trials in preparation for future tournament and League “ he Added
According to Dr. Gaddafi, KG Sports Football School will be opened soon and only players from the School and Academy will be registered to play the future leagues and tournaments.
