The Benue State Sports Stakeholders Forum has come to the aid of one of their own, Coach Justin Tenger, who is presently battling for life at the Federal Medical Centre in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
A two man delegation made up of Coaches Andrew Iornongo and Emma Orsar who are among the oldest and vastly experienced football tactician in Benue State traveled to Keffi in the early hours of Saturday, September 23, to donate the sum of N100,000 to Tenger on behalf of the stakeholders as a token of moral and financial support.
The leader of delegation, Coach Iornongo conveyed the sympathy and well-wishes of the members to the former Sir Akpoo System, BCC Lions, Lobi Stars, Niger Tornadoes and Kwara United coach and wished him quick recovery.
He charged his colleague to remain unwavering in his faith in God who is the greatest physician and can heal all ailments.
Iornongo also assured the family of Tenger of the stakeholders’ continuous support just as he urged members who are close to Keffi to endeavour to find time to visit the coach.
Responding on behalf of his father, Timothy Tersoo Tenger, appreciated the financial assistance and said with prayers from loved ones like the Benue State Sports Stakeholders, his father will pull through the present health challenge.
He also said such gestures should be extended to other members of the forum who may find themselves in similar circumstances in future.
Timothy, therefore, wished the august visitors a safe journey back to Makurdi as he reiterated that the family of Tenger will remain eternally grateful to the Benue State Sports Stakeholders for their magnanimity.
Meanwhile, a leading member of the Benue State Stakeholders Forum and astute football administrator, Mr Harry kwaghfan Yachi, thanked coaches Iornongo and Orsar for accepting to travel to Keffi on behalf of other members.
He also commended members of the Forum on their willingness to make voluntary contributions whenever they are called upon to assist other members who are in dire need of help.
“The holy Bible enjoins us to mourn with those who are mourning and to rejoice with those who are rejoicing.
“By doing what we have done so far, we are only keeping to biblical injunctions and teachings of Islam. God in his infinite mercy is going to reward each and everyone one of us,” said Yachi.
It will be recalled that this is not the first time the forum is responding to an emergency involving one of its members.
The Forum once raised money to give substantial support in the burial of Late Iornyagh Aguda, a board member of Lobi Stars who was left to die by the club he supported right from his youthful days.
And only recently, the Stakeholders Forum gave financial assistance to a former Secretary of Lobi Stars, Mr James Ager, who has been bedridden for so many years.
