Retired Nigerian football striker, Benedict Akwuegbu has urged Nigerian sport stakeholders and administrators to let go of past glories and in bid to make the future better as he advocates for more support for Ibrahim Gusau led NFF board.
The retired Nigerian football striker who played for Nigerian national football team and was a 2002 FIFA World Cup participant advised that successes recorded in past times should be left behind so as to be able to focus on what is ahead in terms of sport development and growth.
“We should focus on the new year and forget about what’s happening in Nigerian football. We didn’t qualify for the just concluded World Cup games but we did quiet well at Nations Cup,” he began.
“We should get this past glories behind us and think of the future ahead. Now, we have a new president that is hungry to succeed, we should all support him and move Nigerian sport forward,” Benedict enjoined.
