Bendel Insurance FC of Benin are well prepared for the NPFL week seventeen game battle visiting Niger Tornadoes in a rescheduled match billed for the University of Benin Sports Complex on Saturday. Time is 4.0 PM, sports247.ng learns
The Benin Arsenal captain Charles Omokaro confidently told newsmen in Benin on Friday during a one day workshop organized for both players and officials of the club and that of Edo Queens by Edo state Government.
Media Chief of Benin outfit said the captain expressed the club’s appreciation to Edo government for the the various ways it has encouraged them, said he was happy to participate in the workshop which was about motivation and psychological understanding of the game,insisted that the lesson learnt in the workshop will be applied against the Tornadoes.
Omokaro was optimistic that Insurance will beat Tornadoes in Benin to consolidate on their recent 2-1 victory over Rangers International of Enugu which took them out of relegation zone and Edo FA Cup success.
Insurance who are still basking in the euphoria of Edo FA Cup crown they won last Sunday,would want to continue in their winning ways and would not want their home good record dented. They played a goalless draw with their visitors in their first round encounter in Minna.
Meanwhile, the Edo state Deputy Governor Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu has restated government’s commitment to the overall wellbeing of players of Bendel Insurance FC and Edo Queens FC now and after their retirement from active football.
Comrade Shaibu gave the assurance in his remarks while declaring open a one day workshop organized for both clubs at Banquet Hall, Government House, Benin city.
Speaking on the relevance of the workshop which was 5th in its series,the deputy governor who is also a registered player of Bendel Insurance said that the workshop was aimed at preparing the players psychologically for the game and to also prepared them for the life after football playing career. He maintained that Edo Government wish and plan for players of both clubs is to empower them and guarantee their future and as well make them employers of labour.
” While football agents want to use you for business to make money,we as government want to make you useful and still relevant after your playing career and even make you create jobs for people . So,we organized this seminar for you to understand the game of football beyond playing on the field. Players need to look at the future and we want to help you so that life after football will even be better for you. ” He emphasized.
The Deputy Governor and the various resource persons at the workshop, including the Commissioner For Wealth Creation,Edo state, Barr Emmanuel Usoh, Dr Kehinde Aluko and Prof Anthony Asekhauno both of the University of Benin, Ex-prolific player Henry Nwosu and others emphasized on the need for players to imbibe the culture of discipline and dedication; their readiness to always accept responsibilities as well as healthy feeding habit as the pathway to success.
