Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin has taken the step to declare player Vincent Augustus Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) after he failed to return to the team’s camp following the one-week mid-season break.
The young winger, Vincent Augustus, has been notably absent from the Benin Arsenals’ camp since the conclusion of the one-week holiday granted to all players and officials.
In a statement released by the club’s secretary, Mr Charles Ihimekpen, it was revealed that Augustus has neither resumed training nor communicated with the club regarding his whereabouts.

“Vincent Augustus has refused to return to the camp since the end of the one-week holiday granted to everybody and has not provided any explanation or sought permission from the management or the head coach,” stated Ihimekpen.
The club expressed its disappointment with Augustus’s actions, labelling his behaviour as unprofessional and amounting to gross indiscipline.
The lack of communication and failure to fulfil contractual obligations have led to Bendel Insurance taking necessary measures to address the situation.
“It is disappointing that the player has chosen to neglect his responsibilities without officially informing the club of his intentions.
We would have expected him to communicate any issues affecting his well-being so that both parties could reach a mutual agreement,” Ihimekpen explained.
The statement further emphasized the club’s willingness to cooperate with Augustus if he chooses to address the situation formally and engage in discussions regarding his contract.
However, until such communication occurs, Bendel Insurance FC is compelled to take appropriate actions in response to the player’s absence without leave.
