Bendel Insurance assistant coach, Greg Ikhenoba, expressed dissatisfaction with the refereeing decision that led to his team’s 2-0 defeat against Remo Stars.
Ikhenoba contested the legitimacy of Remo Stars’ second goal, attributing it to a controversial call by the referee and suggesting that it impacted the outcome of the match.

“We lost it all. We lost to a good team. Very good team. No doubt about that,” Ikhenoba acknowledged. “But sometimes, you know, I hate to talk about referees, to be honest, but the whole world saw it.”
Ikhenoba argued that the referee’s failure to adhere to the initial call of a foul in the build-up to the goal was a critical factor in the match’s result. He emphasized the importance of referees maintaining consistency and adhering to their decisions during gameplay.
“The referee should stick to whatever he has blown. Game is on. Somebody fouled somebody. You blow two times and you didn’t stick to it,” Ikhenoba lamented. “You allowed the game to continue. Come on, it’s funny. I don’t know. I don’t like to blame referees anyway.”
Despite his frustration with the officiating, Ikhenoba acknowledged Remo Stars’ quality as opponents and the need for his team to continue their efforts to improve and compete effectively in future matches.
