Do not think these current socio-economic challenges portend the end of us. Why do I say this? I say it because you and I have to rise above these challenges. Some years back; I read the book written by Lee Kuan Yew titled, “From 3rd World To 1st World- The story of Singapore.”
It’s a phenomenal read. I wish we could all read it and get to see that our current issues are small compared to what some other countries had to grapple with. My key lesson from the book is that you can rise above any limitations no matter how bad if you have a belief in yourself.
No matter what you may be going through right now, don’t give up. Believe in yourself, and take practical steps to overcome that challenge. I have also had to go through severe challenges myself; but I chose to focus on God, believe in my dreams, and forge ahead against all the odds. I’m not moved by any challenge; I have decided to become all that God has wired me to be no matter what.
In the next nine months; where do you want to be? What goals do you want to achieve? How much money do you want to earn?… Focus on these lofty ideals and build your own desired future. Don’t be distracted by the cacophony of noise out there. I acknowledge that we have real issues that are truly disturbing namely; insecurity, high inflation, unemployment; just to mention but a few.
But I am of the opinion that you and I can rise above these challenges; we can in fact leverage them to birth a New Nigeria. No, I’m not talking about the government here; but about our individual responsibilities and power of choice. Simply put, remove your focus from what you can do nothing about; and place it on your circle of influence (i.e things you can control). As you rightly know, the buck of the outcome of your life stops at your table; you can’t blame anyone else.
