Nigeria’s male beach volleyball team will be participating at the FIVB beach volleyball world tour holding in Qatar between 12th-15th March 2019, sports247.ng reports.
Chairman,17 Media and Publicity, Kehinde Lamidi said that team Nigeria is the only team from Africa will be joining other thirty six(36) countries in the main draw & 13 countries in the qualification draw in the four day beach volleyball tournament.
The team Nigeria made the Qatar male four star international beach volleyball tour through a wild card in preparations for ANOC Games in America this year.
Speaking on the tournament, the president of the Nigeria Volleyball federation who also doubles as the chairman of beach volleyball commission,Engineer Musa Nimrod who appreciated an FIVB board member, Engineer Habu Gumel for facilitating the Nigeria’s participation charged the team to make Nigeria and continent proud by proofing their ranking in the continent as one of the best.
The coach of the team, Francis Imoudu who disclosed that Nigeria has never participated in an FIVB beach tour promised to make impacts at the tournament.
“This is the first time & we are the only Africa team in an entry of over forty countries. What a privilege for the boys to showcase the stuff they are made of” Coach Imoudu assured Nigerians.
The players,Ogunshina Obayemi and Hilary Simon with coach Imoudu are expected to leave the shores of Nigeria by Qatar Airline tomorrow 11th of March for the tournament
