Germany-based club, Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed Nigeria eligible right-back Melvin Ukpeigbe on loan from Real Madrid.
Having represented Spain at the junior level, the 16-year-old Spanish youth international joins the Werkself on a season-long loan from Real Madrid’s U18 team and he will initially play for the Leverkusen U17s under the Bayer Cross although Xabi Alonso’s side does have an option to buy the talented youngster.
“Melvin Ukpeigbe is an extraordinarily exciting player who promises a lot for the future,” said Bayer 04 sporting managing director Simon Rolfes.
“We are happy to be able to accompany and support Melvin in his development,” he added.
