Bayer Leverkusen Pursues Striker Victor Boniface to Fill Schick’s Shoes

Bayer Leverkusen, the Bundesliga club, is actively on the lookout for a new striker, and their priority target is the young Nigeria International Victor Boniface.

The club has reportedly set its sights on the center forward to step in for the injured Patrik Schick (27). According to reliable sources in ‘Bild,’ negotiations have progressed well, and the Leverkusen side is eager to secure the services of the promising forward.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano earlier today on his Twitter page

“Bayer Leverkusen are in advanced talks to sign Victor Boniface from Union St Gilloise — negotiations progressing and deal getting closer”

“Nigerian striker has agreed personal terms with Leverkusen and clubs now negotiating deal worth more than €20m package”

However, one hurdle remains to be overcome – agreeing on a transfer fee with his current club, Royale Union Saint Gilloise, who are demanding 20million euros for the talented 22-year-old. This demand comes with three years still remaining on his contract.

Victor Boniface’s journey to the limelight has been remarkable. Just a year ago, he made the move from Norwegian club FK Bodö/Glimt to Royale Union Saint Gilloise for a modest sum of two million euros.

However, his performances in Belgium have been nothing short of sensational, with 29 goals (17 goals and twelve assists) in 51 appearances. Leverkusen is eager to bring the Nigerian striker on board and capitalize on his impressive goal-scoring abilities.

While Victor Boniface is the leading candidate, Bayer Leverkusen has also considered other options to bolster their attacking force.

Among those on their list are Niclas Füllkrug, a seasoned 30-year-old striker from Werder Bremen, and Álvaro Rodríguez, an exciting 18-year-old talent from Real Madrid.

Nonetheless, it is evident that Boniface has emerged as the club’s prime target, and securing his signature would undoubtedly bolster Bayer Leverkusen’s chances in the upcoming Bundesliga season.
