Bayelsa United technical adviser Diepreye Teibowei has heaped praises on his players for putting up a first-class performance against Akwa United in the opening fixture of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

The Prosperity Boys walloped Akwa United 5-3 on Saturday at the Samson Stadium to announce the return of league style after periods of uncertainty and shifts.
Coach Teibowei in an interview, hailed the team chemistry and doggedness to secure three points against Akwa United describing the win as massive, pointing out that the combinational play in the final minutes was perfect.
He commended the lads for coming back thrice during the game to record the crucial win over the Promise Keepers, noting that changes effected in the second half even when their opponent scored the highlight of the fixture.
Coach Teibowei explained that switching his formation from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 with two center forwards added more attacking threat to the visitor’s defenders who became jittery whenever the host attacked, stressing that he was satisfied with Mizo’s performance.
With attention now focused on the matchday two tie against Doma United at the Pantami Stadium, Teibowei believes that the win over the Promise Keepers has sent a clear signal that the Prosperity Boys mean business.
The coach also described Akwa United as a good team.
He called on supporters of the club not to relent in their support for the team, urging them an improve their performance when they face Doma United.
