Ahead of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) Football season, the management of Bayelsa Queens FC has signed five new players for its Squad.
Preye Yabrifa, media officer of the club said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Thursday.
Yabrifa said the new signings would boost the quality of the squad as they hope to compete in the maiden edition of the CAF Women Champions League.
” We are looking forward to coming top of the table this season which would give us a chance at the Champions League.
“For now, I can’t disclose the names of the players, but once the documentation has been finalised, the public will know,” he said.
The club official also said the players have begun to undergo medicals to assess their level of fitness, as directed by the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) for clubs ahead of the new season.
However, no date has been announced for the resumption of the league by the Presidential Task Force on the COVID-19 pandemic, as the ban on contact sports has not been lifted.
