Domo Okara, coach of Bayelsa Queens shared his thoughts after their hard-fought 1-0 victory against Delta Queens in a thrilling encounter at the ongoing NWFL Premiership.
Despite acknowledging the difficulty of facing the defending champions, Okara expressed satisfaction with securing the three points.
“It was a hard-fought game. You will not take it away from Delta Queens. They are the defending champions. They played in the WAFU-B, they are a little bit fierce.
I knew it was going to be a difficult game, and we stuck to our game plan,” Okara commented, highlighting the challenges posed by Delta Queens.
While recognizing that the performance may not have been as convincing as desired, Okara prioritized the significance of collecting three points.
He stated, “Though it wasn’t a convincing performance, the 3 points are more important than playing well and losing.

We didn’t play to my expectations, but the most important thing is the 3 points which we have collected.”
When questioned about the impact of the pitch on their performance, Okara dismissed it as a factor, emphasizing that the pitch was perfect for the match. Instead, he attributed the challenge to Delta Queens’ sharpness and speed.
“The pitch is perfect for the match, but we were second best. The Delta Queens girls were sharper and faster. We will see how we can go home and work on our lapses so we can play better in the next game,” Okara explained.
Okara’s reflective approach and acknowledgment of areas for improvement underscore a commitment to continuous development and a focus on refining the team’s performance as they progress in the NWFL Premiership.
