Bayelsa Queens FC are ninety minutes away from playing in the finals as two first half goals and one in the second half condemned Union Sportive (USFA) of Burkina Faso to exited the WAFU-B qualifiers of the CAF Women Champions league at the Stade De Yamoussoukro in Cote D’Ivoire, 3-1.
After a good display by Bayelsa Queens in the first four minutes it produce a goal in the fifth minutes as Falconets returnee Flourish Sabastine scored with a volley to give the girls from Yenagoa the early lead they deserved.
In the eight minutes of play a shot from Aderemi Mary went inches wide for a goal kick to USFA. Two minutes later it was Aderemi Mary ‘s faulty pass that almost gave USFA an equaliser, but Balkassa Sawadogo played wide for a goal kick to Bayelsa Queens.
Lala Traore scored the equaliser for USFA in the fifteen minutes of play with a sublime finish and from then on Lala Traore made dangerous incursions at the Bayelsa Queens goal area, but the defense line of the Prosperity Girls were able to check mate her and Bayelsa Queens with a quick counter attack in the thirty eight minutes scored the second goal through their goal machine Etim Edidiong (who has scored five goals) in three matches. Woman of the match in the first game against Athleta FC, Miracle Joseph was given a yellow card in the forty fourth minute which has ruled her out of the semi final match and the first half ended two one in favour of Bayelsa Queens FC.
Bayelsa Queens FC resumed the second half with the same intensity they ended the first half as in the fifty second minute a shot from Aderemi Mary hit the upright and went over for a goal kick to USFA.
A glorious opportunity came the way of Bayelsa Queens FC in the fifty nineth minute with only Latifatou Ouedraogo in goal for USFA, but Chinyere Igboamalu could not score. Lala Traore was again a torn in the flesh for Bayelsa Queens defenders as she continue to be tormentor in chief to the Bayelsa goal area, but the NWFL Champions break loose in the sixty eight minutes after Latifatou Ouedraogo cleared the ball and it came directly to Aderemi Mary who made no mistake to score to make it three one.
The goal was the tonic Bayelsa Queens needed to become more assertive in the game as they held and control the ball with good passes to the admiration of the crowd inside the Stade De Yamoussoukro,
Next for Bayelsa Queens FC is a semi final clash against Espoire FC of Benin Republic on Tuesday while Ampem Darkoa Ladies of Ghana will battle the host Africa Sports also on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Chinyere Igboamalu of Bayelsa Queens FC was voted Woman of the match.
