The groundswell of support for the 2018 Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Week continued with the Bayelsa Ministry of Information and Orientation endorsing the program.
Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Daniel Iworiso-Markson while receiving the state SWAN Executive and Local Organising Committee for the Week gave an assurance that government would partner the Association to achieve set objectives.
Mr. Iworiso-Markson who commended SWAN over its vibrancy stated that the body would receive the support of the Ministry.
The Information Commissioner urged Sports Journalists to do more to project athletes in the state who are doing the state proud by winning laurels in national, continental and international competitions.
Describing Sports Writers as Special Breed of Journalists, he charged them to maintain the tempo and be professional in their reportage and programming.
Earlier, the Chairman of SWAN in the state, Alambo Datonye intimated the Commissioner of activities lined up for the 2018 SWAN week which includes Road Race, Clinton Thompson Cup for Media Houses and an Award night.
Chairman of the LOC for the Week, Loveday Herbert said the program which runs from December 17th to 23rd is expected to attract participation from Journalists and Media professionals, build friendship and ensure physical and mental fitness of members of the pen pushing fraternity.
