The Bauchi State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN} on Thursday elected a new set of officials who will run its affairs for the next three years in line with the statute of the association.
The election was presided over by the North-East Zonal Vice President of SWAN, Comrade Ahmed Kagana Amshi with the support of the National Welfare Officer, Mr Austin Ajayi and National EX-Officio, Alh Shehu Abass aka Osculator.
The newly elected state executives are: Bala Bawaji of FRCN, Globe FM – Chairman, Adamu Shehu Imrana of Trust TV, Vice Chairman, Elizabeth Kah of BATV, Secretary, Selya Yarnap of Champion Newspapers, Treasurer, Abubakar Usman Shehu of BATV, Financial Secretary, Imrana Yakubu Galaje of BRC, Welfare officer and Mubarak Aliyu Bako of Albarka FM – Assistant Secretary.
The duo of Mohammed Nasiru Shuaibu of Telegraph and Abdullahi Shehu Yankari were appointed Ex-officio in a friendly and peaceful atmosphere held at the Conference Hall of the Bauchi State Secretariat of the NUJ.
In his remarks, the National President of SWAN, Comrade Isaiah Benjamin stressed the importance of unity and friendship among Sports Writers across the country considering the fact that they are responsible for making people relax with the various reports they write.
The National President abhor division among the members saying that he is only interested in having a strong, virile and united SWAN across the country.
He then charged the newly elected and sworn members of the EXCO to lead with the fair of God and carry all members along irrespective of affiliations before and during the elections.
