Kirfi Local Government Area has emerged as the Langa (Turenchi) event winner at the ongoing Bauchi State Sports Festival held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi on Wednesday.
Bauchi LGA placed second position while Dambam LGA finished third place in an event which was participated by players from the 20 Local Government Areas in Bauchi state.

Winners, former Super Eagles player decorated Kirfi LGA, Patrick Pascal who doubles as the Chairman, of Bauchi State Football Association while the Director of Sports, Usman Yusuf decorated second place, Bauchi LGA.
The captain of Kirfi LGA, Philip Salifu commended the Chairman of the Local Government Area for ensuring the welfare of the athlete is paramount.
Salifu said the remuneration put in place by the LGA is motivating the athletes to win medals.
He said, “It was not an easy task facing other competitors from the remaining 19 Local Government Areas but we thank God for giving us victory. Kirfi LGA players were determined and we played very well; that is why the team was able to win the Langa (Turenchi) event.
“As the captain of the team, I want to thank the Chairman, Kirfi Local Government Area for supporting the team financially. In the whole of the LGA, Kirfi is the highest paid athlete and it has gone a long way in boosting our morale.
The Langa athlete advocated for the continuity of the Sports Festival to be a pool for the states in identifying athletes for National and International Championships.
He said, “We appreciate the State Government for reviving the State Sports Festival as it will help in discovering new talents and we pray the festival is sustained so that it will be an avenue for athletes from the 20 Local Government Areas”
