Bassey Destiny of Yenagoa Local Government Area (LGA) was honored as the Best Defender in the 7th edition of the Bayelsa U13 Kids Cup tournament.

Despite Yenagoa LGA’s 2-0 defeat to Nembe LGA in the final, Destiny’s stellar defensive performance earned him the prestigious award.
Reflecting on his achievement, Bassey Destiny expressed, “For me, this award will serve as a motivation. Coming into this competition, I had it at the back of my mind that I would do everything to see my name being mentioned.”
Although disappointed by the loss, Destiny remains proud of his and his team’s efforts. “I’m not happy that we didn’t win it. But we know that we gave it our very best,” he said. Destiny also shared his future aspirations, highlighting his dedication to the sport. “I will keep my discipline and my training routine. For me, if at this stage I can be called the best defender, I would like to represent my state and, ultimately, my country,” he remarked.
