The Sokoto City Gates Marathon took place at the weekend in Sokoto state with Bashar Usman winning the 15KM race , the race that spanned through the city with Athletes passing through the eight landmark gates of the ancient city, starting at kofar Kware and finished at Kofar Dundaye.
The Marathon race was sponsored by Super Eagles Shehu Abdullah foundation in promoting wellness and personal well-being of the citizens of the state and Nigeria at large .
The female category was won by Mary Oluchi a microbiology student at Usman Danfodio University, but the highlight of the female race is the special recognition given a 10 years old girl , Fatima Aminu who surprised all as she breast the finish tape .
Super Eagles Shehu Abdullah thank the state governor who was represented by the deputy governor Maniru Muhd Dan’iya for the support given to his foundation in hosting the Sokoto City Gates Marathon.
