Adekunle disclosed this during a chat with this writer at the NIS Sports Complex gymnasium after a technical committee meeting ahead of the regional championship which kicks off on Saturday.

‘We know that Nigerians are in pains due to the poor performance of Team Nigeria at the Olympics, we shall therefore put in our best to finish top and pick one of the berths available for the Western Region’ he insisted.

Adewale who is optimistic believes that it would be monumental disaster not to qualify on home soil, and sees his side playing on home soil as an advantage which his players will take advantage of.

When prompted to speak on his Tunisian counterpart earlier comment where Sofine Riahi stated that they would finish top on Nigerian soil, Adekunle said he respect Tunisia but he is aiming at achieving a goal.

‘We respect Tunisia, they have been top in the past though they did not take part in the immediate edition, but I think my side have what it takes to edge to go top and it’s going to be a healthy competition.

Nigeria open their campaign on Saturday against arch-rivals Ghana who coincidentally are defending champions, and Nigerians will be hopeful that this baseball5 team will bring joy to the faces on Nigerians.
