The commissioner for sports in Rivers State, Barrister Chris Green has rated the University of Port Harcourt high in terms of top quality facilities and how such are properly maintained.
Green, who was a board member and technical director of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for many years, gave the eulogies while sealing a pact with the management of UNIPORT.

Sports247 gathered that the agreement will make it possible for Rivers State’s contingent to use the university’s facilities for camping and training ahead of this year’s National Sports Festival in Abeokuta.
While heaping praises on the Ivory Tower, Green directed his verdict straight at the vice-chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill, who he hailed for marshalling the installation and maintenance of top quality sports facilities that other schools should strife to own.
The outspoken administrator declared, “What you have been doing in this school is what other universities should emulate. The facilities you have here and the way you have kept them, including the equipment, is such that we have no other place to run, other than to come here.”
Aside from the facilities and equipment on offer at the higher institution in PH, which is among the first generation federal universities in Nigeria, Green said the Garden City’s esteemed citadel of learning has also produced many great talents.
“Most of the athletes we are using, by the grace of God, are from you. They are all your products. It’s like home inside a home. We are happy, and we are ready to continue that partnership. That relationship is a symbiotic one that has existed for long,” Green pointed out.
