Newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi has called on the Staff of the Ministry to be dedicated to their official duties or be prepared to bear the consequences.
He stated this during an interface with the Management and Staff of the Ministry on Thursday, in Lafia.
According to him, “It is with gratitude to God that I address you on how we intend to run the Ministry.
“I have taken the oath of office to do my best for the task bestowed upon me, and I was given the marching order to sanitize the Ministry, even though I cannot run this Organization alone.
“To succeed, I need both loyal Management and Staff to move this Ministry to a greater height.
“This is one Ministry that is being carefully watched by the Government, and we must do everything to meet the expectations of the Government that sent us here.
“I have come with an open mind so that we can collectively carve a niche for ourselves.
“We are about to board a moving train. Whoever doesn’t feel like boarding it could as well stay aside because we can’t be pulled back by someone who doesn’t believe in our mission and vision.
“I am here to work, and I believe everyone here is ready to follow the same route. If you work well, you will fare well.
“One of my missions here is to guarantee staff’s welfare. We will be fair but firm by making the working environment very conducive for everyone to express their potential.
“We will reward those who are truly committed to duties, regardless of their cadre, but there will be consequences for defaulters.
“We are here to carry out some structural and innovative adjustments. This also means we won’t tolerate truancy, moral laxity, indiscipline, the act of gross insubordination, lateness to work, and above all leaking of official secrets.
You must safeguard Government’s interest, and you must respect the office of the Permanent Secretary and any other office. By so doing, we shall be able to move youth and sports to the next level of development.”
While calling on the staff to see him as a brother and accord him the necessary support to succeed, he assured that regular interfaces with the Staff and Management would be held to address pressing issues.
The Staff who congratulated the Permanent Secretary, Danladi on his elevation and subsequent posting to the Ministry pledged to support him to achieve all his lofty ideas for the Organization.
The meeting was the first between the Permanent Secretary and Staff since he took over as the accounting officer of the Organization.
On a similar development, the Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi has promised to sustain the weekly Keep-Fit Exercise held by the Management and Staff of the Organization.
He gave the assurance shortly after Thursday’s training session held within the premises of the Ministry.
Danladi expressed delight that the Organization holds such a program to keep the staff physically, mentally, and psychologically fit to discharge their duties.
He said coming from the sports sector has widened his horizons to know the physical and spiritual benefits of engaging in exercises, stressing that he would ensure the advancement of the activity by introducing some innovations and creativities to make it more entertaining and result-oriented.
